Coming off an Elite Eight season ago, where the Patriots were 25-2, a lot is expected this season from the Patrick Henry girls basketball team.

With almost the same team returning, throw in one of the better freshmen in the area in Meyta Hieber, and coach Justin Sonnenberg has the Lady Patriots rolling early this season.

Using a full-court press to start, and a dominating defense, the Patriots dominated the initial quarter, leading the Lady Rams 24-4. Hieber came off the bench to throw in 10 opening quarter points.

Hieber would light things up in the second stanza as well, as the freshman would wind up with 18 first-half points and a 37-5 lead. Teammate Ada Christman was a defensive stopper all night, blocking 7 first-half shots.

The second half saw a running clock, early in the thirrd quarter as the visiting Patriots led 50-10 through three, and a 54-12 final.

The stifling Patriots defense held Tinora’s leading scorer, Madison Spangler, scoreless.

Patrick Henry improves to 5-2. The Patriots will host Eastwood on Dec 29.

Tinora falls to 1-10. The Lady Rams will host North Central on Tuesday, Dec 23.
