LIBERTY CENTER – The Tinora Rams again loaded the busses, the third straight road game for the Rams. This time, they headed to The Jungle at Liberty Center High School to take on the Tigers.
The Rams were looking to end their three game losing streak, coming in tonight at 2-4, the Tigers entered tonight with just one game under their belt, a loss to Wayne Trace back on December 10.
The Tigers are late to the hardwood due to their deep run in the OHSAA football playoffs, they also had one game postponed due to covid last Friday.
Tinora head coach Kris Lymanstall knew it may be a long night as the Tigers starters were all listed over 6′ tall. The Rams roster contains senior Eric Bohn, listed as 6′ 1″.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead, leading the Rams after one quarter, 12-4. LC out rebounded the Rams 9-1 in the quarter.
The teams entered the second quarter, seeing the Rams catch the hot hand initially, cutting the Tiger lead to 13-11 with five minutes left in the half. Liberty Center ended the half on a five to one run, taking an 18-12 lead to the half. :Liberty Center with 16 rebounds,
Tinora was lead in the initial half by Lance Rinkle with 6 points, the Tigers were led by Jake Spieth with 6 as well. The Rams D did hold LC to 7 for 27 shooting in the half.
The third quarter was the Nolan Schafer and the Isiah Estelle show. Both battling, trying to get their respective teams in the win column tonight. Both Schafer and Estelle bucketed 10 each in the quarter. Liberty Center ended the quarter leading 28-26.
In the final quarter, the Rams and Tigers again battled, midway through, the Tigers led by four, 32-28. A Jake Speith three from the right wing, this third three of the night, opened the Tiger lead to 35-28 with three minutes remaining. The Rams could never get back on track after the three.
Taking over the last three minutes was Riley Chapa of Liberty Center, Chapa with seven huge points down the stretch as the Tigers pulled away from the Rams, winning 49-40. Tinora’s Nolan Schafer did all he could to keep the Rams in the hunt, scoring a game high 20 points, 18 in the second half.
Liberty Center with 14 offensive boards tonight, as they towered over the Rams in the paint.
Tinora falls to 2-5, the Rams will be in action next Thursday from Tinora as they host Patrick Henry.
Liberty Center improves to 1-1. The Tigers will play host to Holgate on 12/21.

Kudos to the Liberty Center staff and AD Kaleb Pullman for hosting 6 total games today, 3 girls games vs Miller City, and 3 boys games vs Tinora. What a seamless transition by the Tiger staff.
