Tinora 54 Hicksville 7

HICKSVILLE – The Tinora Rams were looking to close out the regular season on a positive note as they tuned up for the upcoming OSHAA playoffs, what they got was a near perfect performance over the Aces of Hicksville.

From the opening kickoff, to the final whistle, the Rams of Tinora dominated Hicksville as they now await their opponent for next Friday night.

After the Aces failed to convert an onside kick to start the game, the Rams took over own their own 45-yard line. The Tinora offense wasted little time getting on the board as Brandon Edwards took a handoff 38 yards off the lefts of the Tinora offensive line in for a touchdown. Jacob Bishop added the XP, Tinora led 7-0 with just 51 seconds into the game.



Less than 90 seconds later, after a Hicksville fumble, the Rams found themselves back in the end zone, Brandon Edwards again hit pay dirt, this time from one yard out. Bishop added the XP, Tinora led 14-10 with 9:37 remaining in the opening quarter.

After a great Cole Anders punt return, and an Aces penalty set the Rams up first and goal from the 10-yard line, Brandon Edwards would score his third TD in less than four minutes, the Rams missed the XP. Tinora had a 20-0 lead with 8:22 remaining in the first quarter.

Still not done scoring in the initial stanza, Cole Sweinhagen joined the Rams TD party, Sweinhagen raced 31 yards for a score, Bishops’s XP would increase the Tinora lead to 34-0 with 2:55 remaining in the first quarter.

Brandon Edwards would gain 67 yards on just 4 carries, with three scores in the initial quarter, before leaving for the game midway through the first quarter.

The second quarter would see more points for the Rams offense. Grady Gustwiller would put the Rams up 33-0 with a 31 yard scamper, Bishop would add the XP as the Rams would lead 34-0 with 10:01 remaining in the first half.

Rams sophomore quarterback Dominic Graziani would dart 14 yards for another score, the XP by Bishop made it 41-0 at the 4:59 mark in the second quarter.

Cole Sweinhagen would close out the half with his second TD, this time from three yards out with :08 seconds left in the second quarter, Tinora led 48-0 as the half came to a close.

Tinora would amass 266 first half yards, 210 of those on the ground, on 27 plays. The Tinora defense would limit the Aces to 22 yards on 19 plays.

With a running clock in the second half, the Tinora underclassman saw much deserved, and much needed reps.

The two Tinora highlights in the second half was an Abram Jimenez two yard score with 7:40 remaining in the contest.

The second highlight didn’t result in points, but Tinora kicker Jacob Bishop attempted a 48-yard field goal that hit the crossbar, bounding back into the end zone. Even though a miss, Bishop received cheers from both Rams and Aces backers for the effort.

The Aces finally put up points on the scoreboard at the start of the fourth quarter as quarterback Brody Balser took a QB keeper 26 yards for a Hicksville TD, Camacho added the XP, Hicksville trailed Tinora 54-7, which would wind up being the final score.

With the win, Tinora improves to 7-3, the Rams finish the GMC season at 5-2.

As of this writing, 12:01 am, the Rams are slated to travel to just north of Columbus to take on the Highland Scots in Marengo, approx 2 hrs and 45 mins away. NOTE, this is NOT official.

Hicksville sees their season end at 2-8, 2-5 in conference play.
