The Wayne Trace Raiders brought their 11-1 record to Tinora High School Friday night to take on the 2-8 Rams in a Green Meadows Conference contest.

Also on hand was the Special Olympics boys basketball team, who performed at the half of the JV and Varsity games.

The Raiders, in pursuit of their 32nd GMC title this season, also brought with them two senior scorers who have eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in their Wayne Trace Careers, Brooks Laukhuf and Kyle Stoller.

The Rams would race out to an early 9-2 lead on an Alex Homier runner in the lane at the 5:30 mark in the first quarter. On the Raiders next possession, Wayne Trace lead man Jim Linder would take a timeout after a turnover.

The Raiders would respond with a 15-1 run over the initial quarter’s final five minutes. Brooks Laukhuf would drain three 3-pointers in a three-minute span, Wayne Trace would take a 17-10 lead after one.

The second quarter got underway with Wayne Trace heading out to a 21-10 advantage on a Hudson Meyers jumper with 7:15 remaining in the half.

Owen Ackerman’s drive and score cut the Raiders lead to 21-14 with 5:20 remaining in the second stanza.

After the Raiders would jump out to a 25-14 lead, The Rams would chip away at the Wayne Trace lead over the next three minutes. Adam Spychall would nail two deep threes to start the Tinora rally, cutting the lead down to 29-26 with 60 seconds in the half.

Alex Homier of Tinora would be fouled with no time on the clock as the half was coming to an end, he would hit both free thrown and Wayne Trace would take a 31-28 lead to the locker room.

The Raiders were paced by Kyle Stoller and his 12 points. Tinora was led by Alex Homier with 8 points.

The third quarter opened with teams trading buckets, and after an Owen Ackerman drive and score for Tinora cut the lead to 33-30 with 7:05 left in the quarter, the Rams appeared to have the confidence to play with the Raiders. Tinora would tie the game at 33-33 on an Ackerman three pointer with 5:30 in the third.

Unfortunately for Tinora, the Raiders would end the quarter on a 17-0 run, taking a 50-33 lead after three quarters.

The final quarter would see much of the same from Wayne Trace, Brooks Laukhuf would score 16 of his game high 25 points in the second half and the Raiders would leave Tinora with a 69-43 win.

Owen Ackerman of Tinora would score 12 of Tinora’s 15 points in the second half.
