HAVILAND – After the first 12 minutes of the contest, Lady Rams head coach Andrew Thiel must have thought to himself, it was just going to be one of those nights.

Trailing by as many as 11 points midway though the second quarter against the Lady Raiders, things seemed to be heading in the wrong direction for Tinora.

After a sluggish start by both teams, and a few Lady Rams defensive breakdowns, Wayne Trace grabbed an initial lead after the initial quarter, 10-7.

The Lady Raiders kept the momentum going into the second quarter, after a Harper Myers bucket in the paint, at the 2:40 mark, the Raiders grabbed a 21-10 advantage. Coach Thiel asked for a timeout to stress confidence and defense.

The Lady Rams would try to mount a comeback right before the half courtesy of an Eowyn Blanchard three pointer, Wayne Trace, would still take a 21-13 lead to the half.

Wayne Trace’s defense limited the top three scorers for Tinora, Nova Oluley, Addison Lee, and Eowyn Blanchard to just a combined 11 points in the first half. Wayne Trace was paced by Harper Myers and her six points.

Tinora was just 2-18 from beyond the arc in the first half, and did not shoot any free throws.

The third quarter saw someone put a lid on the Lady Raiders and Lady Rams basket, the first points of the quarter for either came on an Addison Lee made free throw at 3:10 in the third stanza. The Lee free throw cut the Wayne Trace lead to 21-14. Tinora’s Karli Okuley’s three pointer cut the Lady Raiders lead to 21-17 with 2:40 on the clock.

After a Julia Durfey three at the buzzer, Tinora trailed by just one, 23-22, after three quarters of play. The only bucket in the quarter for the Raiders came on a Tianna Sinn runner with 1:20 on the third quarter clock.

The fourth quarter would start as the Lady Rams would finally grab the lead, 25-23, as Karli Okuley would drain her second three of the contest.

Eowyn Blanchard and Tinora would extend their lead to 28-23 at the 6:45 mark in the fourth. Blanchard would score eight points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Rams would outscore Wayne Trace 15-3 in the final period.

Wayne Trace was limited to just three points in the fourth quarter, and just five total points over the final 16 minutes.

Game notes:
Tinora was 5-10 in the second half from beyond the three point arc.

What a fantastic defensive effort and another great team win for coach Thiel’s Lady Rams.
Fantastic individual efforts on the defensive side by all, especially Julia Durfey and Emma Bailey on their work, limiting the Lady Raiders Lexi Moore to just three points.
