Zoe Billings supplied both power at the plate and in the circle Tuesday night as the Tinora Lady Rams defeated the Hicksville Aces 8-3 in a GMC contest.
Billings collected three hits and two RBI’s, and she sent one over the left field wall for a solo shot at the bottom of the third for the Lady Rams of Tinora.
Tinora jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first. Trynity Koerber, who doubled, came in to score on a RBI by Billings.
Madison Spangler’s three-run homer in the bottom of the second gave the Lady Rams an early 4-0 lead. Nahla Flanary and Christina Meyer both reached before the Spangler homer to left.
Hicksville got on the board with two runs in the top of the third, cutting the Tinora lead to 4-2. Kennedy Adams would score on a single by Taylor Slattery for the Aces’ first run of the game. Cici Keeley’s bases loaded walk would force in McKenna Rice for a 4-2 deficit.
Zoe Billings solo home run in the bottom of the third increased the Tinora lead to 5-2 through three innings of play.
The Lady Aces closed the gap to 5-3 with a single run in the top of the fourth on a K Adams solo home run.
Tinora added another single run in the bottom of the fourth for a 6-2 advantage. Christina Meyer would single and come around to score on an infield error off the bat of Spangler.
The Lady Rams added their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Billings’ double would score Paige Gamby for a 7-3 lead. Savannah Schroeder’s RBI single would plate Gamby for a 8-3 advantage after five innings.
Neither team would score in the final two innings, the Lady Rams came away with an 8-3 win.
Tinora moves to 7-9, 303 in the GMC. The Lady Rams will welcome Ayersville on Thursday in a huge GMC game.
Hicksville falls to 6-10, 2-3 in conference play.
