In a regular-season game that felt like, and had the intensity of, a playoff game, the Tinora Lady Rams outlasted Wauseon Saturday in a contest neither wanted to lose.

Savannah Schroeder sent the bench and coaches into a frenzy with a double in the bottom of the 11th, scoring Madison Spangler for a thrilling 7-6 win for the Tinora Lady Rams.

Things got off to an ominous start for Tinora as Wauseon leadoff hitter Cailyn Meyers sent a Zoe Billings pitch over the left field fence for a 1-0 Indians advantage.

The Lady Rams would answer in the bottom of the first on a solo homerun by senior Chrisina Meyer off Indians starter Breah Teal to tie the game at 1-1 after one inning.

The Indians took a 2-1 lead on an RBI single by Breah Teal, scoring Kila Schindler, who reached via error. Teal would score on an RBI by McGuire for the 2-1 advantage.

Tinora knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second. Zoe Billings led off with a double, and would score on one of freshman Taylor Spangler’s three hits in the game.

Wauseon tied the game at 4-3 in the top of the sixth on a solo homer by Josie Russell.

The Lady Rams finally took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a towering homerun by Billings for 4-3 lead.

Mqdison Spangler and the Lady Rams tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning on Spangler’s sixth homerun of the season.

The teams would battle over the next four innings before anyone scored again. Wauseon grabbed a 6-4 lead in the top of the ninth asTeal would double with two outs. McGuire would follow with a walk. Both would score on an error by the Lady Rams outfield to take the 6-4 lead.

The Lady Rams would rally again. A leadoff double by sophomore Karli Carpenter, followed by another homerun by Spangler, tied the game at 6-6. The Lady Rams were not done, however. After an intentional walk to Zoe Zillings and stealing second base, Tinora had the winning run at second as Taylor Spangler came to the dish. Spangler would send a single back into centerfield, but Wauseon’s Kassidy Noonan’s throw from center would cut down Billings at the plate. Teams headed to the 10th tied at 6-6.

With both starters, Billings and Teal, combining for over 300 total pitches, we headed to the bottom of the 11th inning still tied at 6-6.

Madison Spangler would be intentionally walked with one out on the 11th. Lady Rams catcher, Savannah Schroeder, who has done great in replacing Tinora’s Paige Gamby, sent a rocket over the head of the centerfielder, Noonan. The replay throw to the plate was not in time. Tinora ended the extra-inning classic with a 7-6 win in 1 inning.

Wauseon dropped to 7-3. The Indians will travel to Evergreen on Monday.

Tinora improved to 3-5 and hosted North Central in Game #2 Saturday.
