The Tinora Lady Rams welcomed in the Edgerton Bulldogs as the GMC season resumed on a Thursday evening at Tinora High School.

Both the Lady Rams and visiting Bulldogs entered as two of the hotter teams in the GMC, Tinora ripped off three straight wins, and four of their last five, while Edgerton entered winning five of their last six. Tinora entered the conference matchup at 1-1 in the GMC, while Edgerton was 2-1.

Although cold outside, both teams heated up the nets over the initial 16 minutes of play.

After Gretchen Keppler gave the Bulldogs an initial 2-0 lead, the remaining five minutes of the first quarter was all Tinora Senior Eowyn Blanchard’s three pointer gave the Lady Rams a lead 4-2, a lead they would take to the quarters end. Teammates Julia Durfey and Nova Okuley would each throw in five points in the quarter for a 17-12 Tinora advantage.

Edgerton’s Kaitlyn Burke would try to keep pace, throwing in six first quarter points, Tinora’s defense held All-GMC guard Alivia Farnham scoreless in the initial quarter.

The second quarter was more fast paced that the first. Both Tinora and Edgerton again lit up the nets over the next eight minutes. Tinora’s Blanchard nailed hit three 3-pointers on her way to 11 first half points. Teammates Christina Meyer and Nova Okuley added five points as the Lady Rams extended their lead to as many as 16 late in the second stanza on a Nova Okuley steal and bucket, 39-23 with 45 seconds in the half.

Edgerton would hit the next four points, two on Burke free throws, and a jumper from Everetts to cut the Tinora lead to 39-27 at the half.

The thirst quarter was opposite of the initial two quarters, as both teams adjusted well defensively. Eowyn Blanchard’s fourth 3- pointer to start the quarter, point 14, gave the Lady Rams a 42-27 lead with 7:15 remaining in the third, Tinora would score just three more points in the quarter.

Edgerton, struggling themselves with the Tinora defense, would score just five points in the quarter, the closest the Bulldogs would get in the quarter was 43-33 with just over a minute on the clock, Tinora would exit with a 45-32 advantage through three quarters of play.

Tinora’s Julia Durfey would try to ignite the stalled Tinora offence as she threw in point 11, increasing the Lady Rams lead to 47-33 with 7:40 remaining. Nova Okuley would increase the Tinora lead to 50-33 on a three pointer with 6:20 on the fourth quarter clock.

Edgerton would try to cut into the Tinora lead, closing it to 52-39 with just over four minutes in the fourth quarter on a free throws by Farnham.

The Bulldogs were unable to knock anymore of the deficit in the last four minutes, Tinora closed out the win, 56-39.

Edgerton falls to 6-8, 2-2 in the GMC. The Bulldogs will host Antwerp next Thursday.

Tinora improves to 7-6, 2-1 in conference play. Tinora will travel to Patrick Henry Tuesday.
