HAMLER – A packed gym saw two teams who had combined for an overall record of 16-1 met on a chilly Saturday night at Patrick Henry’s “House of Heat” gymnasium. The Rams brought over their 8-1 mark, while the Patriots were undefeated at 8-0.

Tinora got off to a great start, leading the Patriots 8-2 through the first 6 minutes, the Patriots rallied, outscoring the Rams 9-3, however, grabbing a 11-10 lead after the first quarter on a Mack Hieber tip in at the buzzer.

The Patriots offense kicked into high gear to start the second quarter as they jumped out to a 15-10 advantage after two Hieber free throws. Tinora would end the quarter on a 8-5 run, cutting the deficit down to 20-18.

Patrick Henry’s Reid Creager bucketed nine points to lead all scorers at the half, Tinora was paced by Welling’s six.

Tinora started the third stanza on fire, taking a 24-23 lead on a steal and score by Owen Ferrell, the Rams led by one with 6:15 in the quarter. Lincoln Creager would get the hot hand in the quarter for the Patriots, they would pull away and the end of the quarter for a 34-28 lead.

The Patriots would pull ahead for a 36-28 lead to start the final period. Alex Homier would try to keep the Rams in the game, bucketing 18 total points in the game for the Rams.

The Patriot lead would grow to as many as 10 points, Tinora rallied in the final seconds, cutting it to as little as five points with just under two minutes to play, but could not get over the hump, as the Patriots handed the Rams just their second loss of the season, a 47-41 defeat.

The Patriots defense would limit Adam Spychala to just two points on the night.
