EDGERTON – Josh Lieb bucketed 18 points, exploding for 11 points in the third quarter, as the Tinora Rams improved to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the GMC.

The host Bulldogs came out firing and connecting from long range in the first quarter as Edgerton would knock down three 3-pointers on their way to a 12-11 lead after the initial quarter. Edgerton’s Maddux Baker connected for six first quarter points, while Lieb added five for the Rams.

The second stanza saw a teetertotter quarter as both Edgerton and Tinora traded the lead back and forth, neither team leading by more than three points. Tinora held a 18-15 lead on a Connor Welling drive and score, but Edgerton answered on Joel Walkup three, tying the game at 18-18 with 3:01 in the half.

Maddox Baker’s three gave Edgerton a 21-20 lead at the half.

The third quarter was owned by Tinora’s Josh Lieb. Lieb would nail three 3-pointers, tallying 11 points in the quarter, as the Rams stretched a tight game into a double digit lead as the third quarter expired.

Lieb started his hot streak by connecting on two free throws to give Tinora a 25-24 lead with 4:20 on the third quarter clock. Owen Ferrell would give the Rams a three point cushion at 27-24 on a driving layup with 4:05 on the quarter clock.

Lieb and the Rams would outscore Edgerton over the final 3:25 9-2 and take a 36-26 lead through the first 24 minutes of play, capped by Lieb’s keep left corner three to end the quarter.

The fourth quarter saw Tinora stretch their lead to as many as 10, but Edgerton knocked it right down to six at 36-30 with 7:01 on the fourth quarter clock. A three pointer by Adam Spychala and a layup by Ferrell put the lead back to 10 for the Rams, 40-30.

The host Bulldogs could get no closer as Tinora closed out the final four minutes strong, bring back a 47-32 win.

Tinora’s defense held the Edgerton offense to 11 second half points.

Tinora has won 6 of the last seven meetings, Edgerton’s last win came in 2019.

Tinora improves to 9-2, 2-0 in the GMC. The Rams will host Edon Saturday evening.

Edgerton falls to 8-4, 0-1 in the GMC. The Bulldogs will travel to Pettisville Saturday.
