The Tinora Athletic Department welcomed in the Special Olympics basketball team and cheerleaders on Saturday evening as the Rams hosted the Edon Bombers in a non-conference contest.

Tinora, coming in off a big GMC win Friday at Edgerton, brought in a 9-2 mark, while coach Matt Ripke brought in his Bombers basketball team with a 6-7 mark.

Tinora’s Josh Leib, fresh off an eight point performance in the win at Edgerton, came out blazing again, this night throwing in eight first quarter points as the Rams grabbed a 16-13 lead over Edon after the first quarter. Edon’s sophomore Corbin Christman hit for seven points in the quarter for the Bombers.

Adam Spychala of the Rams started his hot night with a deep left wing three pointer to start the second quarter, putting the Rams on top 19-13. Connor Welling followed up with a three of his own, moving the Tinora lead to 22-15 with 5:25 in the half.

Spychala’s second three of the quarter pushed the Tinora lead out to 25-15. the Rams would take a 27-17 to the half.

Teams would combined for just four total points over the final four minutes of the half.

The hot hand of Spychala continued to start the third frame, his deep left side three gave the Rams a 30-17 advantage. Edon would not buckle, despite Tinora leading 24-20, the Bombers cut the Rams lead to 34-28 after a Christman three pointer with 2:01 in the third.

Edon’s Briggs Gallegue’s three closed the gap to 37-31 with 59 seconds in the quarter, and the quarter would end with that score.

Spycala’s two free throws to start the final stanza pushed the Tinora lead out to 39-31. He would come back on the next Rams possession and nail a left corner three for a 42-31 Tinora lead.

Max Radabaugh’s bucket cut the Rams lead down to 44-36 with 3:45 remaining, he would close it to 44-38 on the Bombers next drip down the floor as he would drive and score.

Tinora’s Dylan Schaufele would hit two free throws down the stretch for a 47-39 lead with 1:45 on the clock.

Gallehue’s runner in the lane cut the Edon deficit to 47-41 with 53 seconds on the fourth quarter clock. The Bombers would lose track of Connor Welling out of a timeout, Welling’s layup gave the Rams a 49-41 lead, a lead the would hang on to for a 50-42 win.

Edon drops to 6-8, and will be back in action next Friday vs Hilltop.

Tinora improves to 10-2 and will play Fairview Friday night in a GMC contest.
