McCOMB: The Tinora Rams used a six run fifth inning and a strong pitching performance by Logan Stein as the Rams went on the road and defeated the McComb Panthers on a blustery cold day in McComb.
Tinora leadoff hitter Ayden Moser collected three hits, while second baseball Cooper Ferrell, and shortstop Owen Ferrell each added two hits and two RBI.
Holding a 3-1 lead, the Ram bats exploded for six runs in the fifth to take a 9-1 advantage.
Back to back walks to Bostelman and Schaublin, and hits by McQuillin and Owen Ferrell gave the Rams a 6-1 lead. Cooper Ferrell’s single scored both Owen Ferrell and Owen Reynolds to increased the Tinora lead to 8-1. Trenton Delarber capped the Rams scoring with an RBI single, plating Cooper Ferrell for a 9-1 lead.
Sophomore starter Logan Stein stymied the McComb bats, allowing just two hits over his six innings of work. Stein allowed just one unearned run while striking out a career high 12 batters. Stein did not issue a walk in his winning performance.
Parker Hancock closed out the game with a strong seventh inning, striking out two Panthers.
The host Panthers grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a Luke Kern RBI.
Tinora improves to 2-1 and will host Perrysburg on Thursday.
McComb drops to 0-2 and will play at Pandora-Golboa Wednesday.
