In a game originally scheduled to be played at Hickville but moved to Tinora due to wet field conditions, the Tinora Rams scraped to a 3-1 win over the visiting Aces at Grube Field on Tuesday.

Allan Burchfield battled through five innings to get the win. Despite not having his best stuff, Burchfield bulldogged his way through five tough innings, allowing just one run on four hits in picking up his third win of the 2026 season.

The Aces threatened to strike first, loading the bases of Burchfield and the Rams at the top of the second with two outs. Jett Keessbury singled to start the frame, followed by a walk to Decon Bell. Burchfield would retire the next two Aces hitters before giving up an infield single to Garrett Turnbull, which would load the bases. Burchfield would strike out Adams to end the threat.

Hicksville’s sophomore righty Jayden Beverly battled Burchfield pitch for pitch throughout the first four innings with neither team plating a run.

Hicksville would strike first with a single run in the top of the fifth to take a 1-0 lead. A one-out walk to leadoff man Colin Leavell would start the uprising. Eli Lawrence would lace a double into the left-center gap, scoring Leavell for a 1-0 Aces lead.

Tinota would head to the bottom of the fifth looking for their first hit off Beverly. Senior Parker Hancock sent the first pitch he saw over the head of Hicksville leftfielder Michael Beck. Burchfield would follow with a single of his own, putting Ram runners at first and third with no outs.

Burchfield would steal his fourth base of the season, giving Tinora runners at second and third. Ryan Mills would set a sca fly, scoring Hqncokc to tie the game at 1-1. With just one out, Kolton Snyder would reach on an infield error, and Burchfield would score on the play for a 2-1 Rams advantage. After a walk to Avery Moser, Logan Stein would rip an opposite field single to right, scoring pinch runner Kaiden Massengale for a 3-1 Rams lead after five innings. Cole Yeaser would come on in relief, getting the final out for the Aces.

Burchfield would exit after five innings. Tinora’s first-year coach, Eric Tipton, would summon junior righty Owen Ferrell to close out Hicksville for the final six outs.

Ferrell would retire the Aces in the top of the sixth. Hickville would make things interesting at the top of the seventh, trailing 3-1. Garrett Turnbull would lead off the inning with his second hit of the game. A two-out single to Beverly would give the Aces runners at first and second. Ferrell would get the final out via strikeout, picking up his second save in four days, preserving the Rams’ 3-1 win.

Hicksville falls to 3-7, 1-5 in the GMC. The Aces will travel to Fort Wayne’s Parkview Field to take on the Fairview Apaches.

Tinora improves to 8-2-1, 3-1 in the GMC. The Rams have another big GMC game Thursday at Ayersville.

Fairview beat Wayne Trace, 5-1. The GMC now has three teams with one loss: Tinora, Wayne Trace, and Fairview.
