HICKSVILLE: The Lady Rams picked up their first conference win of the season Thursday, traveling to Hicksville and knocking off the host Aces in 8 innings, 6-3.
Tinora’s Sanannah Schroder’s two-out, two-RBI single in the top of the eighth plated teammates Nahla Flanary and Hailey Squires to break the 6-6 tie in extra innings.
The Lady Rams grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first on one out, a two-RBI single from freshman Taylor Spangler. Scoring on the play were Zoe Billings and Madison Spangler, who both singled to start the game.
The Lady Rams lead grew to 3-0 with a single run in the top of the third. Schoeder singled and scored on a one-out RBI single from Taylor Spangler.
Junior Maddison Spangler would hit her 14th homerun of the season, a 3-run shot, off Hicksville starter Kennedy Adams in the top of the fourth to push the Lady Rams lead out to 6-0. The Spangler homer would plate teammates Hailey Squires and Zoe Billings.
The Aces came back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth frame off Tinora starter Zoe Billings to cut the gap to 6-3. Evy McAlexander’s three-run homer would ignite the Aces rally in the inning.
Aleyah Keeley would come in for Kennedy and pitch the final three innings for Hicksville.
The host Aces knotted the game at 6-6 with three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Hicksville would collect three singles and a double to get back in the game.
The game would remain tied at 6-6 until the Schoeder game-breaking double in the top of the eighth inning. Zoe Billings would retire the Aces in the bottom of the eighth for her fifth win of the season.
