KALIDA - The Tinora Rams hit the road and traveled into Putnam County on a frigid Saturday night for a non-conference game against the Kalida Wildcats.

The 2022 defending PCL Champs were hit hard with graduations, picked up their first win on Friday vs. Fort Jennings to go to 1-11. The Rams entered at 2-9, still trying to find an identity.

Kalida used a balance attack that saw 8 players score as the Wildcats would upend the visiting Rams, 39-25

The Wildcats led after one 11-10, and at the half 10-18.

Tinora would grab the lead midway through the third quarter and lead until the late fourth.

Several turnovers and missed shots would come back to haunt the Rams in the late fourth quarter.

Owen Ackerman would foul out with 28 seconds left, a questionable call, sending Kalida’s Bubba Smith to the line with the game tied at 35-35. Smith would hit the two free throws, giving the Wildcats a 37-35 lead.

Tinora would have a chance to tie, but a Rittenhouse jumper would not fall with four seconds left, Kalida was fouled and converted both free throws for a 39-35 win.

The Rams also had seven players in the scoring column, neither team had a double-digit scorer.

Tinora falls to 2-8 and will host the Raiders of Wayne Trace Friday night.

Kalida improves to 2-11 and will host Columbus Grove Saturday.
