The Fairview Apaches picked up their first win of the season with a thrilling 3-2 over the host Lady Rams on a gusty, windy day at Tinora High School.
Fairview drew first with a single run in the top of the second on a Grace Poper solo homerun. for a 1-0 lead.
The Apache lead grew to 2-0 with a single run in the top of the third. Samantha Coolamn would be single of Tinora starter Zoe Billings and score on a fielder’s choice of the bat of Sammy Mavis.
Tinora would tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth. Back-to-back walks to Madison Spangler and Zoe Billings started the Rams’ rally. Spangerl would steal second and score on a groundout by Karli Carpenter. Billins would tie the game on an RBI double from Lexi Baldwin.
The Apcahes grabbed the lead, 3-2, with a single run in the top of the sixth on an unearned run as Samantha Coolman would score on an infield error on a hit ball off the bat of Rashele Hoffman.
The Lady Rams had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. Haliey Squires started the inning with a single. With one out, Madison Spangler was intentionally walked, her third walk of the game. Zoe Billings would reach on an infield error to load the bases with two outs. Fairview starter Lilly Warner was able to get an infield groundout to end the Tinora threat and the game. Fairview would hang on for a 3-2 win.
Fairview improves to 1-9, 1-2 in GMC play.
Tinora drops to 5-10, 0-3 in the GMC. Tinora will host Edgerton on Thursday.
