CONTINENTAL – Lady Rams senior Zoe Roesti’s double in the top of the seventh inning scored teammates Trynity Koerber and Christina Meyer as Tinora rallied for a 8-4 win over Continental Friday.
Trailing 4-3 entering the top of the seventh, and now down to their final two outs, the rally was started by Christina Meyer’s one out walk, followed by Koerber’s single.
After a double steal by Tinora moved the runners to second and third, Zoesti ripped an opposite field double down the right field line, giving the Lady Rams a 5-4 lead.
All-Ohio catcher Paige Gamby then tripled to right center, scoring Roesti for a 6-4 lead. After walks to Madison Spangler, Karly Carpenter and Zoe Billings loaded the bases, forcing in Gamby for a 7-4 advantage. Spangler’s steal of home capped the rally for a Tinora 8-4 lead as coach Fairchild rolled the dice as Spangler jetted home behind Gamby.
The Lady Rams notched a single run in the opening frame for a 1-0 lead on as Christina Meyer would score from third on a passed ball.
The Pirates started their scoring with a single tally in the bottom of the first, Kenzie Seafross would score on a error by the Tinora infield on a batted ball off the bat of Homier for a 1-1 lead. Continental grabbed a 2-1 advantage as a Barnahart single would plate Homier. The Pirates were not done, they raced out to a 3-1 first inning lead on a RBI single by Maeci Dockery, scoring Mallorie Barnhart.
Continental’s lead grew to 4-1 in the bottom of the second as Seafross scored on a sac fly off the bat of Homier.
Tinora tallied a single run in the top of the fourth on a Zoe Billings triple, scoring was Karly Carpenter who singled, Tinora trimmed the Pirates lead to 4-2.
The Lady Rams closed the gap to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning. Christina Meyer scored from third on a Roesti groundout.
Tinora improves to 3-2. The Lady Rams will host Defiance on Monday at 5 pm.
Continental falls to 2-3. The Pirates will host Pandora-Gilboa on Tuesday.
