Senior Lady Ram Scylea Zolman had her sights set on another Sectional Championship. Zolman and her Lady Rams teammates did just that as she shut down the Bluestreaks on just two hits and supplied all the power for Tinora in their 4-0 shutout of Archbold.

Tinora grabbed an early lead off Archbold and starter Makenna Thiel as the Lady Rams plated two runs in the bottom of the first frame with a two out rally. After the first two Tinora batters were retired by Thiel, Tegan Norden and Paige Gamby would reach on back to back singles.

Up would step Scylea Zolman in a situation to help herself. Zolman hit a 1-2 pitch off the extreme end of the bat, sending a wild spinner down the first baseline, Thiel would jump off the mound to attempt to grab the roller. As Thiel reached down to grab the ball, the extreme spin on the ball eluded Thiel’s glove and rolled behind her, allowing Norden and Gamby both to score as they were moving on the play. Tinora led 2-0 after one inning of play. Zolman was credited with one RBI on the exciting, unusual play.

Zolman again came to the plate in a key situation, this time in the bottom of the third. Tegan Norden doubled with one out and Zolman followed with a laser shot homerun over the left field fence for a 4-0 Tinora lead through three innings.

Neither team put much together over the final four innings as the Lady Rams moved on to the Districts at with a 4-0 win over Archbold.

Archbold’s Thiel doubled in the second, and Kaylen Behnfeldt singled in the seventh for the lone Bluestreak hits.

Zolman would allow just the two hits, one on a hit to a very sunny right field, unfortunately for the Lady rams, Christina Meyer had to battle the sun all game long.

Archbold’s Makenna Thiel matched Zolman pitch for pitch, unfortunately for Thiel, just two pitches resulted in the four Tinora runs. Thiel, just a sophomore, struck out 13 Tinora batters, while allowing just fie hits to the very potent Lady Rams offense.
