HOLLAND – After a thrilling 2022 postseason at the Springfield softball complex, the Lady Rams headed back to familiar grounds as they took on the #1 seed Oak harbor Rockets.
In the only way they have known the past two seasons. After trailing 5-0 through the first four innings, the Lady Rams rally for a thrilling, exciting, nail-biting 9-8 win in extra innings over the top seeded Rockets.
Scylea Zolman hit the second of her two-two run home runs in the top of the eight inning to give the Lady Rams a 9-7 lead.
Oak Harbor would not go easily in the bottom of the eighth. Three of the next four Rockets would single and reach base safely with just one out. After a bases loaded walk to Porter Gregory, Oak Harbor closed the gap to 9-8.
The Rockets cleanup hitter Hannah Schimmiller would then step to the plate against Zolman and the Lady Rams. Schimmiller would hit the first pitch she saw back to Zolman, Zolman would throw home for the force out to Tinora catcher Paige Gamby, Gamby then threw a dart to the Lady Rams first baseman Paige Carpenter for the third out, a game ending double play to send the Lady Rams to the District Final on Saturday.
Tinora didn’t get their first hit of the game until Maren Pitman’s single of Rocket starter Alyse Sorgg in the top of the fourth.
Zolman’s first of her two home runs came in the top of the fifth. It finally seemed to break the ice for the Lady Rams as they rallied for seen runs to grab a 7-5 lead after fie innings of play.
Several defensive lapses for Oak Harbor in the fifth, five errors, seemed to be the momentum starter for the Lady Rams comeback.
Tinora improved to 17-6 on the season. The Lady Rams will play Eastwood Saturday at 1 pm, back at their home away from home, Blue Devil softball complex.
Oak Harbor sees their season end at 22-5.
The Higbea Embroidery Player of the game went to Scylea Zolman, great job, Scylea.
