A night full of festivities at Edon High School Friday saw the Tinora Rams lead from start to finish in an old school high scoring affair. Although the Rams never trailed, coach Ripke and his Bombers, it seemed, were never out of the game.

Prior to the game, the Bombers honored their seniors in basketball, cheer, and band before the unveiling of the new gym name. Longtime Edon Bomber coach, AD and Bomber fan, Don Walton was honored with the unveiling of the gymnasium in his honor. Walton was joined by his family and friends in a fantastic ceremony.

For the second straight night, Tinora’s Aiden Rittenhouse came out on fire. Rittenhouse, a night after throwing in 12 first quarter points, followed it up a night later with another 12 point opening quarter performance as the Rams grabbed a 19-8 advantage after one quarter of play.

The second quarter would see the Bombers limit Rittenhouse to just three points, Tinora however would grow their lead to as many as 25-13 with 6:10 on the second quarter clock on a Josh Leib three pointer.

Edon’s Cohen Hulbert would try to keep the Bombers close as he would bucket nine first half points, Tinora however would take a 35-26 lead to the half, led by Rittenhouse’s 15 first half points.

Third quarter action would see the Rams lead grow to 45-31 on a Homier bucket and free throw with 3:10 on the third quarter clock. Edon’s Briggs Gallehue and Peyton Trausch would mount the Bombers comeback.

Edon ended the third quarter on a 10-6 run to close the gap to 51-41 through three quarters of play. Gallehue would bucket 11 points in the third for Edon.

The Bombers would gradually chip away one by one on the Tinora lead throughout the final eight minutes using a methodical comeback. Tinora led 64-55 with just over two minutes on the fourth quarter clock.

As in the previous night, the Rams could not convert their free throws down the stretch.

Gallehue and friends would lead the fourth quarter comeback, getting the score to as little a 67-64 with under 30 seconds on the clock as Peyton Trausch would nail a deep three from the right wing.

Alex Homier would increase the Rams lead to 69-64 on two made free throws with 34 seconds remaining.

After the Rams would miss two straight free throws with 22 seconds remaining, Trausch would attempt to get the Bombers a tie on a three pointer with seven seconds remaining, his shot was online but came up short.

Connor Welling and Josh Leib would each split two free throws, giving the Rams a 71-66 lead with :03 on the clock. A Bombers turnover in the last second would give Tinora the regular season finale win, 71-66.

Tinora closes out their regular season at 10-12. The Rams will travel to Eastwood on Tuesday night in the OHSAA Sectionals.

Edon finishes their regular season at 5-17. The Bombers will face Toledo Christian in the Sectionals on 2/28 at TC.
