Tinora 6 Wauseon 3

WAUSEON – The Tinora Rams used four unearned runs in the top of the first inning to hang on for a 6-3 win of the Indians over Wauseon.

On a beautiful Tuesday evening from Wauseon, the 14-4 Tinora Rams made the bus trip to take on the 7-9-1 Indians as both teams tuned up for the upcoming OHSAA tournament.

Both starters, Tinora’s Kadyn Radzik and Wauseon’s Keaton Hartsock struggled in the first inning. Each settled in over the next three innings, pitching effectively for their teams.

Tinora sent nine to the plate in the first inning off Hartsock, scoring four runs on just two hits. Two big errors by the Indians infield were the downfall in the top of the inning.

Eli Plassman had the key hit for the Rams attack, scoring Teron Ward and Luke Harris on a two-RBI single to cap the Tinora top of the first, they would lead 4-0.

The Indians would strike right back, Jude Armstrong started the Wauseon first with a single, and a stolen base, and would score on an Eli Delgato single. Wauseon would trail 4-1 after one inning of play.

The Rams would add a single run in the third to grab a 5-1 lead on an RBI single off the bat of Dalton Wolfrum.

Wauseon struck for single runs in the fourth and fifth, cutting the Rams lead to 5-3.

Mason Thomas would score in the fourth on a Rams infield throwing error.

In the bottom of the fifth, Eli Delgato scored on a fielder’s choice by Mason Thomas.

Mason McQuillin would enter the game in relief of Radzik for Tinora in the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs. McQuillin would remain in the game until the end, pitching the final 3 1/3 innings, and picking up the save for the Rams.

Wauseon starter Keaton Hartsock pitched the first four innings before being relieved by Cody Balser, Balser also pitched effectively in relief, throwing three innings for the Indians.

The Rams added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning, making it 6-3. Dalton Wolfrum’s single would plate Kadyn Radzik. Radzik reached on the Indians sixth error of the game.

McQuillin got out of a jam in the bottom of the sixth and retired the Indians in the bottom of the seventh for the save.

Tinora improves to 15-4 with the win. The Rams remaining five regular season games will be played at home. Thursday vs Bluffton, Friday vs Bryan, and Sat vs Miller City.

Wauseon drops to 7-10-1. The Indians will host Springfield on Thursday.
