For the second straight night, the Tinora Rams used a strong starting pitching performance from a senior righty, Thursday it came from Mason McQuillin and Friday it came from Hunter Bostelman. Bostelman pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just 2 hits to the Panthers. Bostelman picked improved to 3-1 while striking out.
And for the second straight game, the Rams bats came out smoking. Leadoff hitter Ayden Moser tripled to start the bottom of the first for Tinora. After Paulding starter Greyson Harder retired the next two Rams via strikeout, he issues a walk to the hot hitting Adam Spychala. Harder then got a dribbler off the bat of Mason McQuillin in what seemed to end the inning. However, after ffielding the roller by the first baseline, Harder overthrew his first baseman, as the ball headed to right field, Moser scored giving the Rams a 1-0 lead.
With Tinora runners at first and third, McQuillin would then steal second with Parker Hancock at the plate, the throw would glance of Harder’s glove, sailing into shallow left ield, allowing both Spychala and McQuillin to score, give the Rams a 3-0 advantage after on inning of play.
Tinora’s lead grew to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning on a passed ball, allowing Owen Reynolds, who previously walked and sole third base, on a passed ball.
Paulding’s biggest threat off Bostelman came in the top of the fourth. The Panthers Greyson Harder singled for the first hit off Bostelman, followed by a hit by Grady Arend with two out. Bostelman was able to get out of the jam with a groundout to second.
Tinora scored the final two runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-0 advantage. Ayden Moser’s RBI single scored Trenton Delarber for a 5-0 lead, followed by a Alec Schaublin RBI double, scoring Moser for a 6-0 Tinora lead through four innings.
Paulding’s Hayden Elston came and pitched two solid innings of relief, allowing just one hit, a single by Delarber.
Paulding’s two hits came off the bats of Harder and Arend.
Bostelman improved to 3-1 on the season, lowering his ERA to 1.09.
Tinora improves to 7-2, 3-0 in the GMC. The Rams will play host to St. Henry and Findlay Saturday at 11:30 and 4 pm.
Paulding drops to 2-6, 1-2 in the GMC.
