2024 Senior Night, a night the Tinora Rams and their four seniors will soon not forget.
Trailing by a run, two outs, and no runners on base, an improbable finish was soon ahead for the Tinora baseball team.
With rains in the area canceling most games, the standalone game was the Tinora Rams and Wauseon Indians at Tinora’s Grube Field.
The Rams baseball program honored their four seniors, Connor Wolfrum, Rylee Peters, BJ Morlock, and Kadyn Radzik before the first pitch vs. the Indians.
Wauseon led off the game with two straight hits of Tinora senior started Connor Wolfrum. Jack Alstaetter would double to start the game, followed by a single by Thad Reckner, two Wauseon runners were on with no one. Wolfrum buckled down and would allow just one run, a sacrifice fly by Kaden Clymer to give the Wauseon Indians a 1-0 lead.
Tinora bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the first. Kadyn Radzik would reach on an error, followed by four straight walks by Wauseon starter Cooper Balser. Radzik and Hunter Bostelman would score as the Rams led 2-1 after one inning.
Wauseon tied the game 2-2 with a single run in the top of the third. Xavier Martinez singled to start the inning, followed by Jack Alstaetter who would reach on a Rams infield error. Both runners moved up a base on a sacrifice by Thad Reckner with one out. Kaden Klymer’s RBI fielder’s choice would plate Martinez with the tying run.
Tinora grabbed a 3-2 lead with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Adam Spychala would single to start the inning, move to second on a sac by Trenton Delarber, and score on an RBI sac by Ayden Moser.
Mykale Schneider started the top of the Indians fifth with an infield single. Schneider would steal second and score on a BRI single by Martinez for a 3-3 tie.
Connor Wolfrum went the first four innings for Tinora, pitching very well on senior day. He would be relieved by Hunter Bostelman in the top of the fifth after the single by Martinez, Martinez would score on an RBI single by Reckner to give the Indians a 4-3 lead after five.
Balser went the first five innings for the Indians, allowing just three runs, one earned. Coming in relief for Wauseon was Tate Wyse. Wyse would retire the Rams in the bottom of the sixth, allowing just a single to Trenton Delarber.
With Wauseon leading 4-3, Wyse got the first two Rams out in the bottom of the seventh. Tinora was down to their last out with the bases empty. The skies were darkening as the rains were getting ready to roll in at Grube Field, things looked bleak for the Rams.
Enter junior Mason McQuillin. McQuillin would set a bloop single to right. Next up was BJ Morlock, Morlock sent a shot to the right-center gap, scoring McQuillin, not before he took a spill rounding third base, to tie the game at 4-4. Morlock stood at second with the game-tying double.
Next up was junior Adam Spychala. Spychala sent a Wyse pitch back through the middle for a game-winning RBI single, scoring BJ Morlock with the winning run.
The Rams with an improbable 5-4 win on Senior Night 2024, congratulations gentleman.
