On Senior Night, sophomore Owen Ferrell stole the show as his two late quarter three pointers sparked the Rams offense, opening up a close game. Ferrell was on his way to a career high nine points in the Rams 45-39 non-conference win over the Stryker Panthers.

The Rams honored seniors Connor Welling, Alex Homier, and Adam Splychala along with senior cheerleaders Mia Nienstedt, Julia Plassman in a pre-game ceremony.

Tinora wasted little time this Saturday night, jumping out to a 2-0 lead just seconds into the game on a Alex Homier drive and score. The usual patience Tinora offense jumped right in the water as they hosted the visiting Panthers. Owen Ferrell and Adam Spychala’s back to back three pointers gave the host Rams a 8-0 advantage, leading to a Stryker timeout.

Stryker’s Daniel Donovan, playing in just his second game of the season, and coming in off a 17 point night vs Pettisville, would hit a corner three to cut the Rams lead to 1-05 midway through the opening quarter. Tinora would close out the initial quarter with a 20-12 lead.

The Panthers defense would stymie the Tinora offense in the second stanza, limiting the Rams to just four points. The Stryker offense would bucket nine points in the quarter, the Rams would take a 24-21 lead to the half. Spyclala’s six points led the Rams scoring in the opening half, the Panthers were led by William Donovan and his eight points.

Stryker’s head coach Tyler Woollace would roll out another defensive scheme against the Rams offense in the third stanza. Owen Rupp’s bucket closed the gap to 26-23, with 4:55 left in the quarter.

The next few possessions was all Owen Ferrell as he would hit two key three pointers as Tinora would take a 32-25 advantage with just under two minutes in the quarter. Stryker’s Daniel Donovan would not be outdone, however, as his left wing three would cut into the Tinora lead at 32-28. The Rams would beat the third quarter buzzer as Connor Welling would hit a driving Adam Spychala for a layup, ending the quarter with a 34-28 Rams lead.

The final stanza would see the Tinora lead would shrink to 34-30 on two more Daniel Donovan points to start the period. Alex Homier would break open the close game with a right side three pointer, increasing the Tinora lead to 39-30 with 3:01 remaining.

The Welling to Spychala connection would hit the Panthers defense again, this time increasing Tinora’s lead to 41-30 with 1:10 in the fourth. The Rams would hold on for a 45-38 win.

Stryker falls to 6-8 on the season. The Panthers will host Holgate on Tuesday.

Tinora moves to 12-2. Load the family up and get over to Wayne Trace Friday as the Rams will head to take on the Raiders for the top spot in the GMC.
