The Tinora Rams improved to 3-1 with a thrilling 3-2 victory at home over the Elmwood Royals.
Elwood jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. The Royals threatened to score more before Cole Commisso came on in relieve of Rams starter Casen Worfrum with two out bottom of the 3rd. Cole shut the door on the Royals offense, who had runners at second & third, with an inning ending strikeout.
Elmwood held the Rams scoreless until the 3rd inning before the Rams offence finally broke through with Nolan Schafer scoring 1 run. The Tinora offense tied the game at 2-2 with a Tristin Birks run in the 4th inning.
The Rams offense broke the tie in the bottom of the 6th inning playing small ball. After a Kade Vogelsong walk, the Rams Nolan Schafer advanced Vogelsong to 2nd. After a wild pitch, Marcus Grube hit a sac fly scoring Vogelsong from 3rd to give the Rams a 3-2 lead.
Commisso held Elmwood scoreless through 2 outs in the top of the 7th before being replaced by Marcus Grube. Grube came on to the get final out with runners at 1st & 2nd, putting the Elmwood rally out with a strikeout to end the game. Rams catcher Nolan Schafer with a great thrown to 2nd base nailing a potential trying run on a stolen base attempt for the 2nd out in the 7th.
The Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game goes to Cole Commisso. Cole came on in relief, pitching 4 innings of scoreless relief. Congratulations to Cole and the Rams on a great team win.
Great performances on the hill by Wolfrum, Commisso, & Grube secured the Rams win.
