AYERSVILLE – It seems the only place the Monday rains didn’t find was Ayersville High School as the Tinora Lady Rams and the Ayersville Pilots were trying to play, for the third time, a huge GMC contest.

Tinora and Ayersville both were sitting atop the GMC standings at 4-0, the game was originally scheduled for April 23 before rains postponed the initial attempt in the softball edition of the River Bowl.

With both aces in the circle, Tinora’s Scylea Zolman and Ayersville’s Kendra Waldron, ready to face off, the skies around were ominous at best as the Lady Rams and Pilots took the diamond.

Tinora jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, getting two quick runs off Waldron. With two outs, Tinora mounted the rally. Tegan Norden started the threat with a walk, followed by another walk to Paige Gamby. Both runners moved up a base on a double steal, putting both in scoring position in the top of the first.

Senior Scylea Zolman, a Tiffin commit, smashed a line drive single to left, platting both Norden and Gamby to give the Lady Rams the early 2-0 lead.

The Lady Rams Paige Gamby would add the third, and final run for Tinora as she sent a Waldron pitch deep over the left field wall for a solo homerun as the Lady Rams led 3-0 through four innings.

The lone blemish for Zolman and the Lady Rams came in the bottom of the sixth. The Pilots would get a runner on with one out as Aeriel Brown would draw a walk.

The rains would finally come, teams scampered for cover into their dugouts and a five-minute delay started. A small window would open for play and for the Pilots as well.

Brown would move to second on a fielders choice with two outs. Ayersville would finally get on the board with an unearned run as Taylor Waldron would reach on an infield error by the Lady Rams, scoring on the error was Aeriel Brown. Zolman would limit the damage as she would get her 14th strikeout to end the Pilot threat.

Zolman would send the pilots down in order in the bottom of the seventh for her 12th win.

Mable McQuire and would single in the bottom of the third, the only hit for Ayersville off Zolman.

Tinora moves to 14-2 with the win. The Lady Rams will travel to Lincolview on Tuesday to finish a suspended game from earlier this month, then play a second game afterward.

Ayersville falls to 9-4. The Pilots will play a GMC game Tuesday at Paulding.
