On a beautiful Saturday from Tinora High School, the Lady Rams swept a double header from the visiting Wauseon Indians.
The first game saw a dominating performance in the circle by senior Scylea Zolman. The Tiffin commit Zolman picked up her third win of the season in the win. Zolman picked up career win #70 in the green and white uniform while striking out 12 Lady Indians and limiting Wauseon to just four hits.
Tinora grabbed an early 1-0 lead with an RBI by senior shortstop Tegan Norden in the bottom of the third inning.
The Lady Rams would plate two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on RBI’s by Tanae Smith and Scylea Zolman to take a 3-0 advantage.
Zolman would close out the Game #1 win despite Wauseon sending the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh.
GAME 2:
Game two would be a glimpse into the future of the Lady Rams program, as the Lady Rams had a freshman battery of Zoe Billings in the circle and Madison Spangler behind the plate.
Wauseon would jump out to an early 2-0 lead, plating a run in the top of the second on a throwing error by the Lady Rams. Abby Kissell would reach on the error, and scoring were Aubrianna Everly and Layla Martinez.
Tinora’s bats would tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second on a Madison Spangler triple which scored Scylea Zolman, cutting the Indians lead to 2-1. Spangler would tie the game on an RBI single by Zoe Billings.
Tinora would break the second game open in the bottom of the third as they would take a 5-2 lead. Tanae Smith, Tegan Norden and Paige Gamby would score in the inning on RBI’s by Gamby, and Billings.
Wauseon would push across a single run in the fourth as Abbey Kissel’s sacrifice fly would score Danica Pack, cutting the Lady Rams lead to 5-3. A great job by Lady Rams starter Zoe Billings to get out of the bases loaded jam.
Tinora would score the final runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth to take a 7-3 lead. A sac fly by Scylea Zolman would score Tegan Norden who would have three hits in game 2.
Freshman Madison Spangler would hit her first careen homerun to close the scoring in the fifth, the no doubt shot over the left field fence put Tinora on top 7-3.
Billings would close out her first career win, going the distance, pitching seven innings, striking out three and walking three. A very impressive performance by the freshman.
Tinora improves to 4-0 overall. The Lady Rams will start GMC play nest week, hosting Wayne Trace on Tuesday and Fairview on Thursday, before hosting Parkway for another DH on Saturday.
Wauseon falls to 4-2. The Indians will host Rossford on Tuesday.
Player of the game in the first game went to Trinity Koerber, Trinity with several defensive gems in her first game at second base.
Game 2 player of the same was shared between Zoe Billings and Madison Spangler. Congratulations to each of you for your varsity firsts.
