Tinora 10 Wayne Trace 0 F/6

On a hot and humid night at Tinora High School, Rams head coach Brent Renollet sent his senior right-hander Casen Wolfrum to the hill to face the visiting Raiders of Wayne Trace. Wolfrum entered with a 3-0 mark on the mound, coming in with a steller1.31 ERA.

Wayne Trace came in with a school best record of 18-1, 6-0 in Green Meadows Conference play, to face the defending GMC Champions. Tinora was coming in off the last at bat win over Wauseon on Tuesday, courtesy of a Casen Wolfrum RBI walk off single.

Wayne Trace headman Ryan Jerome sent his senior righty as well to the hill, Allen Mink hit the wound with a 4-0 record with a 1.93 ERA.

After the game had been postponed due to rain, game day was finally here. At stake for Wayne Trace was the outright GMC title, for the Rams, defending their conference championship.

Before the fans were settled in, the Rams sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning, plating 7 runs off Mink. Mink would exit after recording just one out. Ironically, Rams lead off hitter Nolan Schafer recorded the first out on a fly out to deep left.
What followed no one expected.

After a Kadyn Radzik walk, Rams slugger Cole Commisso continued his hot bat, barely missing a two run homerun in the first by inches, settling for a one out double of the left field wall. A walk to Jayden Bergman would load the bases for Tinora, starter Casen Wolfrum. Wolfrum would walk, drawing an RBI as Radzik scored, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead.

Teron Ward would single in Commisso, Tinora lead 2-0. Rams third baseman Tristan Birks followed with another RBI single, giving Tinora a 3-0 lead, bases still were loaded. Freshman Alec Shaublin would end the day for Mink with a two RBI single, increasing the Tinora lead to 5-0, still with only one out in the first.

After Raider Tyler Davis entered, the Rams catcher Ty Wiemken dropped the perfect sac bunt, scoring Birks from third, the Rams now led 6-0. Nolan Schafer would bat for the second time in the first inning, this time producing an RBI single to increase the Tinora lead to 7-0.

Rams DH Jayden Bergman sent a two out screaming liner to second, Wayne Trace second baseman Brevin Anderson seemed to leap from a trampoline to snag the Bergman shot, this finally ended the Tinora inning. After all the dust settled, Tinora would send 13 to bat, scoring seven runs on six hits.

Tinora would add a single run in the second, Alec Shaublin with his third RBI in 2 innings would single to score Teron Ward, the Rams led 8-0 after two innings.

Tinora starter Casen Wolfrumwas no stranger to the hot humid conditions, pitching two times last July in the State ACME tournament, Wolfrum led the Rams to victory on the hill. Tonight from Tinora,. Wolfrum seemed to be in complete control the entire game.

Wayne Trace would get just two runners to third in the contest. Wolfrum held the Raiders offense to just 4 hits over six innings, two of those were by Cale Winans.

The Rams would score another single run in the fifth as Wolfrum would sent Schafer home on a sac fly, Tinora led 9-0 after five innings of play.

Tinora would end the game in the bottom of the sixth as scorching hot Cole Commisso would send home Kegam Miles with run #10 with an RBI single. Commisso has 39 RBI on the season while batting over .500 through 17 games.

With the win, the Rams clinch at least a tie with Wayne Trace for the top spot in the GMC. Antwerp plays @ Fairview on Friday. An Archer win puts them in a tree way tie with the Rams and Raiders at 6-1 in the GMC.

Tinora is now 15-3, 6-1 in GMC. The Rams will host Antwerp in a non-league game on Thursday.

Wayne Trace falls to 18-2, 6-1 in GMC. The Raiders will travel to Miller City on Thursday.

The Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game goes to Rams starter Casen Wolfrum. Casen was poised and in control the entire game. Great job, Casen!!
