Stryker – Senior Emma Faulk hit a runner in the lane for the Lady Panthers with 4.3 seconds on the clock that broke a 38-38 tie as the Stryker Panthers upended the Tinora Lady Rams in a thriller on Senior Night for the Lady Panthers basketball program.
The Lady Panthers honored their three-member senior class before the game. Laura Leupp, Taylore Rethmel, and Emma Faulk were all honored by the crowd. Unfortunately for Rethmel, she was unable to attend due to illness. Her teammate, Emma Faulk apparently said, I have your back.
Both teams seemed to struggle in the first half, all but Faulk I should say. Faulk led Stryker to an 8-3 lead after one as she threw in six points.
She was just getting warmed up, as Faulk would throw in another 12 to give her 18 for the half, guiding the Panthers to a 22-10 halftime advantage of the visiting Lady Rams of Tinora.
The Lady Rams would slowly chip away at the Lady Pathers lead, cutting it to 30-24 after three quarters.
Tinora finally caught Stryker at 36-36 as Nova Okuley would hit two free throws with 1:40 on the fourth quarter clock.
Stryker’s Abby Oberlin would break the tie by splitting two free throws, giving the Lady Panthers a 37-36 lead with 1:20 remaining.
Reiss Creighton would split her free throws with 28 seconds remaining, and Stryker would lead 38-36.
Tinora’s Addison Lee would hit two free throws with 23 seconds on the clock, tying the game at 38-38.
The stage was set for Lady Panther senior Emma Faulk, who had a game-high 22 points. The entire gym knew Faulk was getting the ball, and she did just that, driving the lane, hitting a 6-foot runner with just under six seconds on the clock, the bucket gave Stryker a 40-38 lead.
Tinora had a shot at the win, but a game-winning three point shot attempt was partially blocked by the Lady Panthers, giving them a thrilling two-point win, 40-38.
