JEWELL – Tinora improved to 2-0 on the season as freshman third baseball Paige Gamby supplied the Lady Rams offense with three RBI’s, including a sole home run.

Tinora junior righty Scylea Zolman picked up her second win as she pitched seven innings, striking out nine, allowing one unearned run in the top of the seventh inning.

The Findlay Lady Trojans make the long trip north to take on the Tinora Lady Rams in a Thursday evening non-league matchup. It was the season opener for the Lady Trojans.

The Lady Rams were off and running in their first at bat. Anna Frazer led off with a single, stole her fifth base of the season with one out. Fellow senior, Logan McQuillin walked, giving the Lady Rams two runners on the base paths. After a strikeout, Paige Gamby stepped in and laced an opposite field double off the base of the right field fence, scoring both Frazer & McQuillin, giving Tinora a 2-0 lead.

That lead would stand up through the fourth inning, where Gamby would send the first pitch she saw from Findlay freshman Natalie Steffes over the center field fence for a solo shot, putting the Rams up 3-0.

Tinora would add two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth as Logan McQuillin would collect her third and forth RBI’s on the season with a two run homer to deep left field, giving the Lady Rams a 5-0 lead.

Findlay would finally break through with an unearned run off Zolman in the top of the seventh. A two out RBI double by Lady Trojan Lola Spiels scored pinch runner Emma Sleasman from second, curing the Tinora lead to 5-1. Zolman would retire the finall batter, giving the Lady Rams a 5-1 win over Findlay.

Tinora improved to 2-1. The Lady Rams will host, weather permitting, Archbold on Friday, and Patrick Henry on Saturday.

Findlay losses it’s season opener, 0-1, and will travel back to Defiance on Saturday and take on the Lady Bulldogs.

The Higbea Ebroidory Player of the Game went to Lady Ram freshman, Paige Gamby. Gamby went 2-3, collected 3 RBI and hit her first varsity HR. Congratulations, Paige.
