Hilltop’s Halle Jones hit the first of the game over the centerfield wall to give the visiting Cadets early 1-0 lead. Hilltop went on to send 10 hitter to the plate and score four more runs in the top of the first for a 5-0 lead.
The Lady Rams of Tinora responded with two runs of their own on a two run homer by Paige Gamby, scoring Madison Spangler, to close the gap to 5-2 after one.
Hilltop would plate four more runs in the top of the second off Tinora starter, freshman Carlie Roehrig. Kenley Routt would single and score on a Kelsy Connolly double for a 6-3 Hilltop lead. Libbie Baker would cap the Cadets scoring in the second with a RBI double, scoring Giada Rising for a 9-2 lead after an inning and a half.
Tinora’s Savannah Schroeder would single and score on a RBI by single by Madison Spangler to close the gap to 9-3. Tinora would close the gap to 9-5 on RBI’s by Paige Gamby and a passed ball, allowing Spangler to score. Hilltop led 9-5 through two innings.
Hilltop plated five more runs in to top of the third to take a 14-5 advantage.
The Lady Rams added a run in the bottom of the fourth, but still trailed 14-6. Madison Spangler would single and score on another passed ball.
Hilltop added two additional runs in the top of the fifth for a 17-6 lead. Maggie Altman would double in Rising for a 15-6 lead. Jones would score on a Connolly single.
The Rams failed to score in their final at bat in the bottom of the fifth, the Cadets would come away with a win via the 10 run rule.
The Lady Rams fall to 5-6 and will travel to Fairview Tuesday.
Hilltop improves to 12-2 and will host Holgate on Tuesday.
