ST. HENRY – Things were looking very good for the Tinora Rams as they headed to the bottom of the sixth inning as they continued their weekend tour at St. Henry as they battled Bellefontaine in the opening game Saturday. Tinora held an 8-3 lead over the Chiefs as the teams headed to the bottom of the inning, then the bottom fell out.
The Rams, serving as the visiting team, took a 5-0 lead as they plated five runs in the top of the third inning. The inning started with Connor Wolfrum being hit by a pitch. Trenton Delarber singled, followed by an Ayden Mosier single, which scored Wolfrum to give the Rams an early 1-0 lead.
Kadyn Radzik would draw a walk to load the bases for Tinora cleanup hitter, Alex Schaublin. Schaublin would send a 3-1 pitch deep over the left field fence for a grand slam homerun, putting the Rams up 5-0 after three innings.
The Chiefs would get on the board in the bottom of the third on a bases loaded walk by L Yoder, scoring was Owen Larison. The Rams lead was cut to 5-1. Bellefontaine added two more runs as Charlie Bible would knock in Jose Sandoval and Brody Boy.
Tinora would add three more runs in the top of the sixth to take an 8-3 lead. Mason McQuillin would score on an RBI single by Trenton Delarber to increase the Rams lead to 6-3. Senior Kadyn Radzik would hit his first homer of the season over the left field wall to increase the Rams lead to 8-3 into the bottom of the sixth.
Just as things were looking bright for Tinora, the Chiefs exploded for 12 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 15-8 lead. Bellefontaine sent 17 batter to the plate in the inning. Ironically, Tinora recorded two outs before the landfall of runs by Bellefontaine. Tinora committed three errors in the inning.
Bellefontaine would send the Rams down in order in the top of the seventh for the win.
Tinora drops to 5-4 on the season and will play host to Edgerton on Tuesday as the GMC schedule kicks back in. Tinora travels to Hicksville on Thursday.
Bellefontaine improves to 5-3 on the season. They moved to 6-3 as they played the host St. Henry in the 2nd game of a DH. The Chiefs came away with a 5-3 over St. Henry.
