Archbold’s senior Cade Brenner needed 24 points to join the list of career 1,000 point scores in Bluestreak basketball history. Brenner did just that with 1:41 remaining on the fourth quarter clock as he stepped to the free throw line with Archbold leading Tinora 56-44.

Cade Brenner would hit the first free throw, then be honored by all in attendance at Tinora High School. After a long acknowledgement, Brenner hit the second free throw to give home 25 points on the night.

The Bluestreaks brought in a 16-1 record, their only loss to Liberty Center, to face the red-hot Tinora Rams. The Rams, coming in off a season high 71 points, were winners of their last four contests.

The first quarter saw the ‘Streaks jump out to a 15-9 lead. Archbold Junior Micah Nofziger was both a nuisance on offense and defense for the Tinora Rams as he bucketed five first quarter points and blocked several Rams shots. Tinora’s Aiden Rittenhouse matched Nofziger’s five points.

The second stanza saw the Rams cut the Archbold lead to just six, 28-22. Nofziger again was a thorn in the side of the Tinora team. Nolziger would bucket 10 second quarter points, on his way to a first half game high 15 points.

Tinora was lead at the half by Owen Ackerman and his eight points.

Nofziger would find foul trouble in the third quarter, that’s when his teammates, Jayden Seiler and Cade Brenner, took over. Archbold would increase their lead over the Rams to 44-31 through three quarters of play.

Brenner, the 2023 NWOAL Player of the Year, would bucket a game high 25 points on the night.

The final quarter saw the Bluestreaks and the Rams battle, each team bucketing 18 points each. In the end, the Archbold offense was too much for the Rams as they went back home with a 62-49 victory over Tinora.

Tinora’s Aiden Rittenhouse, who set a career high with 29 the previous night, would bucket 20 points in the loss.
