HOLLAND – The Rams made the trip back to Springfield High School to take on the Archbold Bluestreaks, at hand was the Northwest 2 Sectional title.

While sectional titles seem to come easy for the ‘Streaks, the Rams last sectional title came back in 2013 at the old Defiance High School gym, a victory over Wayne Trace.

Similar to the game vs Paulding, the Rams and Blustreaks hooked up nearly three weeks ago at the Thunderdome in Archbold with the ‘Streaks coming out on top, 46-31.

Tinora’s Luke Harris wasted little time getting the Rams out to a quick 5-0 lead, just 45 seconds into the game. In the initial meeting, Harris has limited to just five points by the stingy Archbold defense.

The NWOAL Player of the Year award went to Archbold’s Cade Brenner, Brenner showed why over the next 32 minutes. Brenner battled Harris point for point as Archbold grabbed a 12-9 lead after one quarter.

The tight Archbold defense would limit the Rams Harris to just two second quarter points, while Brenner would lead the Archers with 10 first half points and a 24-17 lead at the half.

The third quarter would see Archbold race out to a 10 point lead, 29-19, with five minutes left in the third quarter. The Rams would rally in the final three minutes, cutting the Archbold lead down to just four, 37-32. Harris would lead the Tinora charge with seven points in the quarter, while Archbold’s Brenner would collect four points, all from the line.

Trailing by just four entering the final eight minutes was all Tinora’s coach Lymanstall could ask for.

Cade Brenner would open the fourth quarter at the line, and he would continue to wear a path to the line over the final 7:45, knocking down nine free throws.

Just as the Rams cut the lead down to five, Archbold’s Sonny Phillips would convert a four point play, pushing the Archbold lead back to nine with six minutes remaining.

Archbold would continue to pull away from the Rams as the ‘Streaks would outscore Tinora 24-13 in the final stanza, coming away with a 61-46 win.

Thank you to the Rams senior class of Gavin Eckert, Eli Plassman, Cole Anders, Shae McMaster, and Luke Harris. Each of you played with heart and soul, you have everything to the green and white uniform.
