For the second straight week, the Rams mounted a furious second half comeback, only to see it fall short again as the visiting Bluestreaks came away with a thrilling 35-27 win at Tinora on Friday night.
As the Rams were trying to march into Archbold territory in the final 90 seconds, ‘Streaks defensive back Aranjer Krieger stepped in front of a Owen Ferrell pass at the 45 yardline, sealing the Archbold win over the Rams. In 14 meetings, the Rams have never beaten the ‘Streaks in the series.
Archbold scored first as the Bluestreaks used a bit of trickery. Ryder Ryan took the snap and pitched it to QB Maddox Pinter would hit WR Morgan Harris with a 15 yard strike, the XP by kicker Quin Sauder would give Archbold a 7-0 lead with 4:47 remaining in the initial quarter.
Archbold running back Ryder Ryan who just getting his night started as he would jet 89 yards for a score, the XP was good by Sauder, the Bluestreaks grabbed a 14-0 lead over Tinora with 11:21 left in the half.
Morgan Harris would catch his second touchdown pass on the night from Pinter, this on from 66 yards out, the XP from Sauder would increase the Archbold lead to 21-0 with 5:30 remaining in the second quarter.
Ryder, who would tote the pigskin 18 times for 214 yards on the night, would hit paydirt for the second time in the game, this one from three yards away, the Sauder XP would give the ‘Streaks a 28-0 halftime lead.
Constant pressure by the Archbold defense and penalties would ground the Tinora offense in the initial half.
The Tinora Athletic Department honored the 1995 Playoff team at the half, the team coached by Mike Anderson, was the first playoff team in Tinora football history.
After the half, the Rams offense finally began to click. Owen Ferrell would connect with Dylan Schauffele for a 4-yard TD pass, Parker Hancock’s supplied the XP, Tinora still trailed 28-7 with 5:21 in the third quarter.
Tinora’s Owen Reynolds hauled in a 15-yard TD from Ferrell at the end of the third quarter, Hancock’s XP cut the deficit Rams deficit to 28-14.
Ryder Ryan again struck for Archbold as he would scamper 45-yards for a score, Sauder’s XP went through for a 35-14 lead with 10:19 remaining.
The Rams, trailing by 21, still showed they had life as Owen Reynolds hauled in his second TD pass from Ferrell with 8:12 in the fourth.
Tinora’s comeback continued as Dylan Schauffele hauled in his second pass with 5:25 in the fourth. The Rams went for the two-point conversion trailing 35-27, the attempt was Unsuccessful.
Archbold and RB Ryder Ryan was able to get a couple of first downs, taking valuable time off the clock. Tinora finally got a stop with 1:20 remaining in the game, but needed to travel 78 yards for a chance at a tie.
The interception by Krieger ended the Tinora comeback attempt with just under 50 seconds on the clock.

Archbold improves to 2-1. The Bluestreaks will travel to Delta to start the NWOAL season.
The Rams drop to 0-3. Tinora will host Hicksville as the GMC season starts.
