ARCHBOLD – Archbold junior Madi Bowers threw five strong innings while teammate Charlie Forward reached base all four times as the host Bluestreaks improved to 6-0 with an 11-2 win over the Tinoraa Lady Rams.

Archbold struck with a single run in the bottom of the first on a two-out triple by Meg Ames, scoring Forward, followed by a double by Madi Barnes, the ‘Streak led 2-0 after 1.

The Lady Rams cut Archbold’s lead to 2-1 in the top of the third on a RBI single by Taylor Spangler.

The Bluestreaks lead moved to 3-1 in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Charlie Forward, scoring Makena Thiel.

Tinora’s Madison Spangler’s solo home run in the top of the fourth closed the gap to 3-2.

Archbold’s Forward continued her assault on the softball as she clubbed a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth for a 4-2 lead. Raegan Gerken scored from third on a dropped third strike, increasing the Archbold lead to 5-2.

Tinora’s best opportunity came in the top of the sixth. After Thiel replaced Bowers in the circle for the ‘Streaks, she proceeded to walk two straight batters, putting the tying run at the plate for Tinora. Thiel proved why she is one of the area’s best pitchers as she retired the heart of the Tinor lineup, escaping with a 5-2 lead.

The Bluestreaks put the game away with a six-run bottom of the sixth. All six runs were unearned as the Tinora defense committed four errors in the inning. Archbold led 11-2 through six innings.

Archbold improves to 6-0 and will host Clay on Thursdays.

Tinora starts the season 0-2 and will travel to Lincolnview to take on the Lancers and one of the best pitching prospects in the county, sophomore Lyla Hughes.
