The Tinora Rams trimmed the Antwerp lead to just one, at 32-31 with 4:05 on the third quarter clock. The Archers would respond with a 17-0 run to end the third quarter on their way to a 63-48 win at The Range in Antwerp.

As the regular season winds down, the Tinora Rams made the trip west to take on the Archers of Antwerp. The Archers, who entered at 18-2, 5-1 in the GMC, needed a win vs. the Rams, 7-10, 4-1 in the GMC, and a loss by Wayne Trace who hosted Paulding for a shot at the Green Meadows Conference title.

The Archers were off and running as they immediately raced out to a 10-0 lead on their way to a 13-4 lead after the initial quarter. Cam Fuller nailed down five points in the opening eight minutes for the Archers.

Tinora would close the gap to 13-10 on an Aiden Rittenhouse drive and score with 6:05 in the second quarter. After Alex Homier of Tinora’s bucket with 5:10 on the clock cut the Archers lead to 15-12, it was the Landon Brewer show over the next three minutes.

Brewer, the reigning GMC player of the year, had yet to score nearly 11 minutes into the game. He would show why he’s one of the area’s best players over the next three minutes as he exploded for 10 quick points as the Archers would grab a 28-17 mead at the half.

Zane McMichael would bucket nine points in the half for Antwerp, along with Brewer’s 10. Tinora was led by Owen Ackerman and Aiden Rittenhouse with six points each.

The Rams and Adam Spyclala came off blazing to start the third quarter. Spychala would drain three quick three pointers, cutting the Antwerp lead down to just two, 31-29. After a Coach Billman timeout for Antwerp, Zane McMichael would split two free throws to give the Archers a 32-29 advantage.

Tinora’s Connor Welling hit a 13 footer to bring the Rams to 32-31 with 4:03 on the third quarter clock. The Archers would then go on their third big run of the game, this time outscoring the Rams over the next four minutes 17-0 to lead 49-31 after three.
Tinora could not answer, Sophomore Zane McMichael and Carson Altimus during the Archers run.

The Tinora Rams would continue to battle throughout the fourth quarter, but could never get closer than a 10 point deficit as Antwerp would come away with a 63-48 win.

With Wayne Trace defeating Paulding, the Archers will finish second in the GMC.

A solid effort by Tinora despite the defeat.

Tinora falls to 7-11, 4-2 in the GMC. The Rams will host Elmwood Saturday night. Tinora will host Biddy Cheerleading as well as honor Owen Ackerman’s State High jump Championship.

Antwerp improves to 19-2, 5-1 in the GMC. The Archers will take on Hilltop in their season finale on Thursday.
