HAVILAND – The Tinora Rams defense of their sixth straight Green Meadows Conference title took a hit Tuesday, they suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Cooper Wenzlick and the host Wayne Trace Raiders as they defeated the Rams 8-0.
The Rams sent senior righty Eli Plassman to the mound, while the Raiders sent junior ace Cooper Wwnzlick.
The Rams best scoring opportunity came in the first inning as Kadyn Radzik singles, the only hit the Rams would get of Wenzlick, After the Radzik single, Alec Schaublin would walk, putting Tinora runners on first and second with just one out.
Wenzlick, All State in 2022, and First Team GMC, would respond to the challenge, retiring the next two Tinora hitters to get out of his only jam of the game.
The usual tight Tinora defense was missing at Wayne Trace. In the first inning, the Raiders would score two unearned runs.
After the first two Raiders were retired by Plassman, Cale Winans would single, followed by a Cooper Wenzlick grounder that was thrown into right field, resulting in a huge error by the Rams.
The Raiders Kyle Slade would knock in the first run of the game with an RBI single. Wayne Trace would add a second unearned run as Kyle Forrer would single in Wenzlick, putting the Raiders on top 2-0.
Wayne Trace would add a single run in the fourth. TyleR Davis would lead off the bottom of the Raiders fourth with a double. Davis would score on a two out single by Breven Anderson.
The Raiders would put the game away with a five run sixth inning. Again, the Rams defense would have a part in the explosion.
Wayne Trace would send 10 batters to the plate, scoring the six runs. They did so on five hits, and tow Rams errors. The Raiders exited the inning with a 8-0 lead after six.
Wenzlick would retire the Rams in order in the top of the seventh, recording his third win. Wenxlick would hurl 7 innings, allow just the one hit, striking out nine Rams while walking just two.

Tinora drops to 6-1, 1-1 in the GMC. The Rams will travel to Fairview on Thursday.
Wayne Trace improves to 6-1, 2-0 in the GMC. Wayne Trace will travel to Hicksville on Thursday, and Kalida on Friday.
