Wauseon’s Riley Reigsecker scored 14 first quarter points on the way to a game 25 points as the Wauseon Indians picked up their first win of the season with a hard fought, 44-41 win at Tinora on Tuesday night.

Wauseon raced out to a 16-10 lead after one, courtesy of the hot shooting Reigsecker.

Tinora battled back to cut the Indians lead to 23-21 at the half.

Wauseon’s lead grew to as many as 11 points early in the third quarter on anther three ball by Reigsecker, and a jumper by Bodie Vasvery, 35-24 with 2:35 in the third.

After a Tinora timeout, the Rams battled back, cutting the deficit to 38-32 after three, Elliot with two three pointers in the quarter to add the Rams comeback attempt.

Tinora’s Dylan Schaufele’s bucket cut the Wauseon lead to 42-41 with 2:55 in the fourth. Several turnovers down the stretch ended the Tinora comeback as Wauseon hit two free throws to increase their lead to 44-41.

The Rams had a last second three point attempt, but the shot was short at the buzzer.

Wauseon 16-7-15-6 = 44
Tinora 10-11-11-9 = 41

Wauseon scoring: Molina 4, Mennetti 3, Allstaetter 5, Reigsecker 25, Vasvery 7

Tinora scoring: Schaufele 5, Neff 3, Hancock 7, Lieb 15, Horn 9, Lynmanstall 2

Wauseon improves to 2-0. The Indians will host Edgerton on Friday.

Tinora drops to 2-3. The Rams travel to Holgate on Saturday.
