TOLEDO: The 2026 OHSAA tournament trail started for the Tinora Lady Rams as they made the hour trip north to take on the Toledo Christian Lady Eagles. The visiting Lady Rams came in as the #6 seed, while the host Lady Eagles entered as the #4 seed in the Northwest 3 District.

The opening eight minutes saw both teams run up and down, with each team finding the basket frequently. One of the few things that went wrong in the opening quarter was that Tinora ‘s leading scorer, junior Madison Spangler, would pick up two quick fouls.

Spangler’s teammate, senior Christian Meyer, would step up as she would throw in seven of her team high 14 points in the opening quarter. Toledo Christian’s Annalise Masell would throw in six of her 12 overall points in the opening frame as the teams played to a 16-16 tie after one.

The Lady Eagles pressure was starting to get to the young Lady Rams basketball team in the second stanza. Toledo Christian forced numerous turnovers while also holding Meyer and Spangler to just a combined four points in the frame. The Lady Eagles’ leading scorer, Jenna Reed, would bucket six of her game-high 20 points in the pivotal second frame.

After a basket by Kalli Wells, a three-pointer from the left corner tied the game at 19-19, the Eagles closed the half on a 12-4 run, taking a 31-23 lead at the half.

The third quarter saw the Lady Eagles increase their lead to 43-26, holding the Lady Rams to just three points. Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles Jenna Reed would continue to add to her total, throwing in seven more points.

Toledo Christian would continue to pull away in the fourth quarter before they would capture the Sectional championship with a 53-37 win. Christina Meyer would add five points in the final quarter for Tinora as Meyer and Kate Zimmerman would see their senior season come to an end.
