The Rams used a three run fifth inning to secure the 5-3 win over the Big Green.
Ottoville pounced on the host Rams with a run in the first inning. Trey Landwehr, who would score all three runs for the Big Green, started things by being hit by a pitch by Tinora starter Hunter Bostelman. Landwehr would steal second base and score on a Tinora throwing error. Ottoville would lead 1-0 after a half inning of play.
Tinora would tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning. Ayden Moser singled, and would tag and score from third on a Dalton Wolfrum sacrifice fly to center field.
Tinora grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third as Hunter Bostelman would single, reach second on a balk call on Big Green starter Alex Suever, and come around to score on Eli Plassman’s bloop single to right field.
The Big Green tied the game 2-2 in the third, in a carbon copy moment, Landwehr would be hit, more up second on a Tinora error, and score on an RBI single by Suever.
Ottoville took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Again, Landwehr reached, this time on a single, and would again score on an RBI single by Alex Suever.
The Tinora bats would explode for three big runs in the bottom of the fifth. The first three batters would all reach via infield singles, Gustwiller, Moser, and Radzik. Teron Ward would rip a 2 RBI single into left field, scoring Gustwiller and Moser, putting the Rams up 4-3. Tinora would add another run on a Big Green error that would send home Radzik, giving the Rams a 5-3 lead.
Hunter Bostelman would pitch a very effective 4 2/3 innings before being replaced by Corbin Casteel. Casteel came with two out in the fifth, and runners on first and second base. Castell would throw a single pitch, getting Grant Leis to fly out to center, ending the Ottoville threat.
Casteel would retire 7 of the 8 hitters he would face, improving his record to 4-2.
