Tinora Lady Rams 3 Huron 0

BUCYRUS – Coming into the Sweet 16 matchup, the Tinora Lady Rams and Huron Lady Tigers knew one run could be the difference in a trip to the finals.

The two starters in the Regional Semifinals, Tinora’s Scylea Zolman and Huron’s Eliza Maloney, came in with a combined 31 wins, 397 strikeouts, and an ERA of 1.09, runs would be at a premium, both teams assumed.

The Lady Rams got started in the top of the first inning as Anna Frazier led off with a single, and moved to second on the same play. Maren Pittman would sacrifice Frazer over to third with one out.
On a ground out to third, Frazer would score, giving the Lady Rams an early 1-0 lead.

With Zolman in complete control, Huron, coming in hitting .425 as a team, would not register their first baserunner until a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Tinora would add two insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Paige Gamby led off the inning with a single, she would score on an opposite-field single by Paige Carpenter, and a throwing error by Huron, giving the Lady Rams a 2-0 lead.

With one out, Tinora’s Scylea Zolman would send a triple to the right field wall, scoring pinch runner Trynity Koerber, putting the Lady Rams up 3-0.

Huron would get a runner on with one out in the bottom of the seventh on a Tinora infield error, Zolman would however retire the final two Huron batters, sending the Lady Rams to the Regional Finals for just the second time in school history.

Zolman improved to 17-5 on the season, she allowed just one hit and struck out eight, not walking a batter.

Tinora improves to 20-7. The Lady Rams will return to Bucyrus and play Johnsonville on Saturday at 12pm for a spot in the OHSAA Final 4.
