Senior Night, a night that suddenly sneaks upon high school athletes. As a freshman, the thought is mostly, “I have four years of sports, it will take forever.” And then boom, four years have passed and they are handing you flowers and a gift bag full of memories.
On Thursday at Tinora High School, the Tinora volleyball team honored their four member senior class of Tatum Creps, Paige Gamby, Jayden Sines, and Christina Meyer. The four ladies have given all and more to the Tinora Lady Rams over the course of their high school career.
The Lady Rams also honored the five member senior class of the Edgerton Bulldogs, Aubrey Patrick, Ava Swank, Alivia Farnham, Ava Giesige, and Olivia Wallace.
The Lady Rams needed a win over the Bulldogs to capture their second straight Green Meadows Conference championship. Tinora entered with a 19-2, record and a 6-0 GMC record. The visiting Bulldogs traveled in with a 12-9 mark, 2-4 in conference play.
Senior Paige Gamby needed just two kills to become the newest member of the 1,000 kill club, joining teammate Tatum Creps, who two weeks ago joined the club vs Patrick Henry.
Gamby wasted little time as she got the personal mark as the Lady Rams grabbed a 8-3 lead early in the initial set. Tinora would go on to win set one, 25-15.
Tinora dominated the second set, take it 25-10 to grab a 2-0 set lead, highlighted was a Lady Rams 11-1 run.
Set three saw a bit of a change, as Tatum Creps went on a serve run to rally the Lady Rams past Edgerton, 25-17. With Edgerton leading 4-3 early in the third set, Creps went on a 8-0 run and Tinora never looked back, taking the match 3-0.
With the win, the Lady Rams clinched their second straight undefeated GMC Championship, and their 11 title overall.
