Tinora 8 Holgate 1 Final

Coming off back-to-back memorable victories, a Friday GMC clinching win vs Ayersville, and a Saturday game that saw Head Coach Brent Renollet with career win #400, the Tinora Rams saw the Holgate Tigers come to Tinora for the last time as a GMC foe.

Holgate will be leaving the Green Meadows Conference after this spring sports season and will be joining the BBC, the Buckeye Border Conference, starting with the 2021 fall sports season.

Tinora came in at 19-3 overall and 6-0 in the GMC, the Rams were looking for a victory to finish the season undefeated in conference play. The Tigers of Holgate came in with a 9-11 record, 2-4 in the GMC.

Junior righty Jayden Bergman took the ball for the Rams, Bergman was coming off a huge save on Friday night vs the Ayersville Pilots in the conference clinching game. Joey Kelly took the hill for the Holgate Tigers.

Tinora scores three runs on 4 hits in the second inning, leaving the bases loaded. Max Grube with a one-out single that scored two, Marcus Grube with an RBI single as the Tinora bats sent nine men to the plate. The Rams led 4-0 after two innings.

The Rams scored a single run in the fourth on a Marcus Grube RBI fielders choice. Max Grube again in the middle of the action with a single, stolen base, and a run scored as Tinora grabbed a 4-0 lead after four innings.

Tinora Rams starter Jayden Bergman was on cruise control over the first 5 innings, limiting the Holgate Tigers to just two hits while striking out 8 Tigers.

Tinora came through with 4 more runs in the fifth, highlighted by a 2 RBI single by Nolan Schafer. Again in the middle of the rally was Rams senior center fielder Max Grube, Grube with another single, stolen base, and run scored.

Holgate finally broke through in the sixth, scoring one run of Bergman. The Tigers lone run came on an RBI single by Sam Medina, scoring Robbie Thacker.

Bergman was relieved by senior lefty Jacob Bailey, Bailey started the seventh for the Rams. Bailey came on to retire the Tigers in order to close out the Rams 8-1 victory.

With the win, the Rams finish the GMC season with a perfect 7-0 record while also gaining win number 20 on the season. Tinora is 20-3 as they have upcoming games on the road Tuesday at Wauseon and Thursday at Swanton. Friday the Rams are home vs Bryan and will close out the regular season on Monday vs Delta at home.

The Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game went to Max Grube. Grube with a perfect day at the plate going 4 for 4, 2 steals, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI’s.
