Tinora 6 Elmwood 0

JEWELL – The Rams hosted the Elmwood Royals in the first official High School baseball game at the new Grube Field.

Tinora used timely hitting and a dominating performance on the mound from Eli Plassman as the Rams improved to 3-0 on the young season with a shutout at home over the visiting Elmwood Royals, 6-0.

Tinora welcomed back 2003 graduate and first year coach Derek Meyer. Meyer took over for legendary Royals coach Kyle Reiser.

Reiser, retired after leading the Royals to a 588-304 record, 17 league championships, five district titles,
and one Division III state runner-up finish through 32 seasons at Elmwood.

Tinora jumped out to 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Harris, D Wolfrum, and Bostelman all reached safely before any out was recorded. Harris scored the Rams first run on a groundout single by BJ Morlock. Wolfrum scored on a Gustwiller RBI ground out.

Plassman was in control on the mound, pitching 5 strong innings, limiting the Royals to no runs on 3 hits. Plassman would strike out four, walking just one.

Junior rightfielder Connor Wolfrum would stop a would be Elmwood rally in the sixth, robbing Hayden Wickard of extra bases with a run saving catch down the rightfield line.

Hunter Bostelman would work the final two innings in relief of Plassman.

Tinora would put a four spot on the board in the bottom of the third. Radzik, Ward, Harris, and Wolfrum would score. Hunter Bostelman would supply a bases loaded double in the middle of the Tinora rally.
