HICKSVILLE – Coming into the start of GMC season, the Rams were still looking for their first win of the 2024 gridiron season after playing a very rigorous non-league schedule.
Tinora, with their normal ground and pound running game struggling, entered averaging under 200 yards of total offense, and just 54 yards a game on the ground, looked for a spark as they traveled to Hicksville to take on the Aces.
On a night were the Aces honored their 2004 Final 4 team, a fantastic crowd filed in on a near perfect Friday evening in Hicksville. Charlie Bostelman, the father of Rams Hunter Bostelman was the Aces head coach back in 2004. Bostelman was also the 2004 DIV VI coach of the year,
After defensive stop by the Rams to start the game, and after a fantastic punt return by Trenton Delarber, Tinora took over for their initial drive at the Aces 31 yard line.
With sophomore Owen Ferrell starting at QB for the Rams, Ferrell handed the ball off to Dominic Graziani, who lined up as a RB. Graziani took his first handoff 31 yards untouched for a Rams TD, giving Tinora a 6-0 lead. Jacob Bishop applied the XP, putting the Rams on top 7-0 with 10:07 on the first quarter clock.
Hicksville mounted a drive themselves as QB Garrett Turnbull would hit WR Brant Langham several times on the drive, capping it off was Cross Zedyke with a 2 yard TD, the XP was no good, Tinora led with 4:01 remaining in the first quarter.
The fireworks were just getting started as the first quarter was winding down. Tinora’s Jacob Bishop hammered a 21 yard field goal to put the Rams on top 10-6 with just two seconds left in the initial stanza.
On the ensuing kickoff by Tinora that chased Aces speedy return man Brant Langham back to his 7 yard line, Langham jetted through the Rams special teams unit for a 93-yard kickoff return, the XP was good by Owen Stuckey. putting Hicksville on top 13-10 at the end of the first quarter.
With 5:01 on the second quarter clock, Tinora’s Owen Ferrell hit WR Jacob Bishop across the middle for a 44 yard TD reception, Tinora regained the lead 16-13, the XP was supplied by Bishop for a 17-13 second quarter lead.
The Rams drive was stopped in Aces territory at the 18 yard line with 1:38 in the half, and had to settle for another Bishop FG, this one from 35 yards out, giving the Rams a 20-13 lead at the half.
Tinora’s Jacob Bishop added a third FG midway through the third quarter, this time Bishop punched it through from 20 yards out, putting the Rams up, 23-13 with 7:30 remaining in the third quarter.
Owen Ferrell would throw his second TD pass of the game with 2:41 remaining in quarter three, this one a two yard TD slant to Dylan Schaufele. Bishops XP increased the Tinora lead to 29-13.
The Tinora defense stepped up in the second half, shutting down the Aces duo of Zedyke and Langham.
The lone score of the fourth quarter came at the 1:05 mark as Tinora’s Cooper Replogle would be the workhorse on the drive, taking it into the Aces endzone from 4 yards out for a 36-13 lead, Bishop’s XP closed out the scoring for a 37-13 Tinora win.

The Tinora offense compiled 402 total yards of offense, doubling their average per game.
The Tinora defense gave up 264 yards, 75 yards on the next to last play of the game on a catch by Langham.
Tinora improves to 1-3, 1-0 in the GMC. The Rams will host Fairview on Friday in a huge GMC contest,
Hicksville drops to 1-3, 0-1 in the GMC. The Aces will travel to Antwerp on Friday.
