When the Tinora Rams and Ayersville Pilots get together on the field or court in any sport, records can be thrown out the window. From the upcoming River Bowl to the River Rivalry in the other sports, these teams empty the energy tank when it comes to this rivalry.
Ayersville, winners of three straight, brought their 11-3 overall record and undefeated GMC mark at 3-0 across the Maumee River on Tuesday evening to take on the host, the Lady Rams of Tinora.
Coach Hagerty’s Lady Rams entered playing their best ball of the season, winning five of their last six, bringing their overall record to 9-5. Tinora entered with a 2-1 GMC record, losing only to Fairview.
A fantastic crowd, which included the Tinora pep band, at Tinora High School saw the Lady Rams jump out front early, taking a tough first set, 25-18, grabbing a 1-0 lead after the initial set.
Set two, another very tight set went the Tinora as well, 25-20. The Lady Rams jumped out to a 2-0 set lead.
Ayersville coach Alicia Franks rallied the troops in set three, and the Pilots came away with a 25-19 advantage, cutting the deficit to 2-1 Tinora.
Set four, with both teams looking to stay in the GMC race, The Tinora student section going crazy encouraging the Lady Rams, the crucial set went to the Lady Rams 25-18.

The win was career victory 400 for Tinora’s coach, Bretta Hagerty. Coach Hagerty Hagerty has 22 years of head coaching experience, she is in her ninth season at Tinora with an overall record of 180-37 with the Lady Rams.
Coach Hagerty was the Crescent-News coach of the year as well in 2017, 2018, and 2020. Coach Hagerty has five GMC championships on her Tinora resume as well as the 2018 regional championship.
What a career this far, congratulations, coach!

Tinora improves to 10-5, 3-1 in the GMC. The Lady Rams will head to Patrick Henry Thursday to take on the Patriots.
Ayersville falls to 12-4, 3-1 in conference play. The Pilots will be off until Monday when they head to Stryker.
