Ayersville—The River Rivalry is a game, a match in which the records can be thrown out the door when these teams meet on the hardwood, turf, or whatever the venue.

This was the case on Tuesday as the undefeated Lady Rams, #6 in the latest D6 coaches poll, brought in their 17-0 record, and Tinora was also looking to remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.

The young Pilots entered at 8-9, 2-2 in the GMC. However, over the last two weeks, Ayersville had won four straight matches and six of its last seven.

The first set went to the Lady Rams, 25-18. Although they fell behind early, Ayersville rallied in the middle of the initial set to close the gap to 16-14. The experienced Lady Rams, however, gathered the troops and took the first set for a 1-0 lead.

The second set would see Tinora and Ayersville nearly even through the first quarter of set two, the teams were tied at 4-4. As in the initial set, Tinora gained momentum and grabbed the set 25-17 for a 2-0 set advantage.

Set three saw Tinora break out to a 6-1 lead before the young Pilot squad real it back mid-set to 13-6. The experienced Lady Rams again took the momentum for a 25-19 win, grabbing the River Rivalry 3-0.

Ayersville falls to 8-10, 2-3 in the GMC. The Pilots will travel to Patrick Henry on Thursday.

Tinora stays perfect, improving to 18-0, 5-0. The Lady Rams will travel to Wauseon on Thursday before hosting Defiance on Saturday morning.
