Tinora 12 Hicksville 2 F/6

Coming off the big win at 4-1 win at Defiance on Monday, a Tuesday snowstorm postponed the Rams and Aces game to Friday afternoon.

Head coach Brent Renollet sent ace Andrew Imthurn to the mound while Hicksville head man Tim Shock, who recently registered career win #100, sent ace Jackson Bergman to face the Rams offense. Tinora came in with a team average over .400 while Bergman was averaging two strikeouts per inning.
Hicksville grabbed an early 1-0 in the top of the first with an RBI single by Aiden Champion, scoring Bergman.

Tinora answered with three in their half of the first, giving the Rams bats an early 3-1 lead off the Ace’s ace Bergman. A leadoff double by Nolan Schafer, who scored on an Andrew Imthurn double, started the Rams three run first. The Rams scored 3 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the first inning.
Both teams went scoreless through the next two innings as both Imthurn and Bergman settled down after the first inning.

The Rams bats came back alive in the bottom half of the fourth inning, Tinora scored three runs on just 2 hits. A leadoff double by Jayden Bergman and a walk to Nolan Schafer started the three run third inning, which was aided by another walk and a Hicksville error. Marcus Grube and Andrew Imthurn provided RBI singles in the inning as well for Tinora.

Tinora righty Andrew Imthurn quieted the Hicksville bats over the next few innings, limiting the Aces to just 2 runs in his five innings of work.

After Hicksville added a run in the top of the fifth to close the gap to 6-2, the Rams answered with two runs of three hits in the bottom of the fifth. The spark plug of the Rams, Nolan Schafer, was again in the middle of the action. Schafer added a single, a stolen base, and a run scored in the Rams three run inning as Tinora grabbed an 8-2 lead.

Hicksville’s junior righty Jackson Bergman’s night came to an end after the fifth as Hicksville went to senior Brandon Crowl. Bergman ended with six strikeouts on 12 hits, while walking four Rams.

Imthurn was replaced by Jayden Bergman on the hill for Tinora, Bergman escaped damage in the top of the six.

In the bottom of the sixth, Tinora sent seven men to the plate, scoring four runs including the same winning single by Marcus Grube scoring Nolan Schafer as the Rams beat the Aces 12-2 in six innings.

Andrew Imthurn improves to 5-0 on the season for the Rams.

Tinora Improved to 13-2, 4-0 in the GMC. Hicksville falls to 4-10, 0-4 in conference play.

The Rams will host Maumee Saturday at noon, weather permitting.

The Higbea Embroidery player of the game award went to Rams catcher Nolan Schafer. Schafer went 2-4, reached on an error, walked, scored 4 runs, and stole one base. Schafer also picked off a base runner from behind the plate.
