HOLLAND – For the second straight season, the Tinora Lady Rams and the Oak Harbor Rockets met in the District Finals to decide who would move on, and whose season would end.

On a perfect Saturday for softball, the #1 seeded Lady Rams brought their 21-4 record against the #2 seeded, 23-2 Rockets.

In the circle were who of the winniest pitchers in the area over the last three seasons, Tinora’s Scylea Zolman, and Oak Harbor’s Alyse Sorg.

Oak Harbor struck quickly in the top of the first as the Rockets would put three unearned runs on the board to take an early 3-0 lead over the Lady Rams.

Tinora’s Zolman set down two of the first three batters she faced, unfortunately, an infield error by the Lady Rams infield extended the inning, and the Rockets took advantage. After the error, a two-out double by Jarder Harris put Oak Harbor on top 2-0, and Tatum Bumgarter’s RBI single pushed the Rockets lead to 3-0 after a half inning of play.

The Lady Rams would get runners at second and third in the bottom of the second off starter Alyse Sorg. Scylea Zolman led off the inning with a walk, and Paige Gamby followed with a single. Gamy would steal second base to put two runners in scoring position with no one out. Sorg would lock in, striking out the next three Tinora hitters to get out of the jam.

The Rockets would extend their lead to 6-0 with three runs in the top of the fourth. Oak Harbor would send nine to the plate, scoring three runs on three hits. Tatum Bumgarter led off with a walk and came around to score on an infield single by Myley Sandwisch for a 4-0 Rockets lead. Sandwisch and Lalonde would both score on a double off the bat off Reese Atkins for a 6-0 advantage.

Tinora would finally get to Sorg with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Paige Gamby would double with two out and come around to score on an error by the Rockets infield. Oak Harbor led 6-1 after four innings of play.

Sorg would shut down the Tinora bats over the final three innings, the Lady Rams threatened on the bottom of the sixth, but Sorg would get a strikeout to end the Lady Rams threat.

Oak Harbor would go on to a 6-1 win, moving on to the Regionals. The Rockets improved to 24-2.

Tinora’s magical season ends at 21-4. What a great season for the Lady Rams.
Scylea Zolman set a single-season homerun mark with 14. Tinora set a record with 21 wins in a season, and Tinora broke the team home runs record for a single season with 38 roundtrippers.
